Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Punch Press Operator to join a fast-paced manufacturing team in Troy, Michigan. This position is responsible for setting up and operating punch press equipment to fabricate metal components according to production specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working with metal fabrication machinery, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up punch press machines by loading tools, dies, and materials. Ensure proper calibration, alignment, and readiness for production
  • Load or input CNC programs to produce parts according to engineering specifications. Operate punch press machines to cut, shape, and form components
  • Properly load and position materials (sheet metal or fiberboard) to ensure accuracy and minimize waste
  • Perform punching operations in line with engineering drawings and production requirements
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure specifications and quality standards are met
  • Identify and resolve issues such as tool wear, material inconsistencies, or equipment malfunctions
  • Conduct routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and tool replacement or sharpening to maintain machine performance
  • Maintain consistent workflow and address any production inefficiencies or deviations.
  • Accurately track production data, scrap, and machine settings using systems such as Epicor or manual reporting tools.
  • Work with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience operating punch press or similar machinery preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in English
  • Ability to perform basic math and interpret process sheets, SOPs, and production documentation
  • Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Physical ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs. Intermittently
  • Comfortable working while standing, bending, lifting, and reaching
