Job description

We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic/CNC Plasma Operator for our fabrication shop. The Sheet Metal department is responsible for fabricating equipment including ductwork and related mechanical components for industry projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment, dust collection systems, and welding processes specific to mechanical construction environments.

This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring high-quality prefabricated duct and mechanical components are produced safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities (List is not inclusive)

  • Proven ability to operate Sheetmetal fabrication equipment
  • Determine the right tools and equipment necessary to successfully complete the job.
  • Measure, cut and bend mechanical materials
  • Attend all safety meetings.
  • Follow instruction given by on-site leadership.
  • Cleaning the shop after the work is completed
  • Ability to fabricate duct sections and fittings from sheet metal stock including:
    •  Round and rectangular duct
    • Transitions, elbows, and offsets
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details
  • Use layout tools to measure, mark, and cut materials accurately
  • Lay out and fabricate custom fittings to required tolerances for field installation
  • Maintain airflow direction, gauge requirements, and duct construction standards

Equipment Operation

Operate fabrication and welding equipment including:

  • CNC Plasma table
  • Press brakes
  • Shears
  • Rollers
  • Notchers
  • Spot welders
  • Fabrication tools

Safety & Production

  • Wear required PPE including gloves, hearing protection, and steel toe boots
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Coordinate with shop foremen and production teams to meet fabrication schedules and delivery deadlines
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality standards

Work Environment

  • Indoor prefabrication shop environment
  • Exposure to welding fumes, loud equipment, and moving machinery
  • Fast-paced production schedules with precision fabrication requirements
  • Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
