Job description

Position Summary


The Entry Level CNC Machinist operates CNC machine tools to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, and company quality standards. This position is intended for individuals seeking to develop machining skills and build a career in precision manufacturing. The machinist will learn machine setup procedures, tooling, offsets, inspection techniques, and safe machining practices while supporting daily production operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machine tools safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload materials and workpieces into machine fixtures.
  • Run approved CNC programs and monitor machine operation during production.
  • Perform basic tool changes and adjust wear offsets under supervision.
  • Measure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Record inspection data, production information, and job documentation as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Report machine issues, tooling concerns, and quality discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Assist senior machinists with machine setups, fixture preparation, and process improvements.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and team objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested, or needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to read basic blueprints and engineering drawings preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Mechanical aptitude and desire to learn CNC machining.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and geometry.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing safety practices.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls, G-Code, or machining terminology preferred.
