Pay Rate: $19.00 to $22.00 an hour

Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for fabricating parts and tools required for manufacturing by operating a variety of machining equipment, including drill presses, precision machinery, CNC, and lathes. This position requires a high level of skill in measuring, setup, and machine operation to ensure all components meet stringent specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Operate a variety of machines including Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL), Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM), Vertical Grinders, Horizontal Grinders, and Horizontal Engine Lathes.
- Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls if automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
- Listen to machines during operation to detect abnormal sounds (such as dull cutting tools or excessive vibration) and make necessary adjustments.
- Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement according to required machining sequences.
- Perform general bench skills such as assembly, disassembly, filing, and the use of hand-held power tools.
- Lift workpieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes as required.
- Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and determine the size and position of cuts.
- Move material, tools, fixtures, and equipment as required to facilitate production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating machining equipment (drill press, CNC, lathe, etc.)
- Ability to accurately use precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of machining sequences, feeds, speeds, and cutting tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as needed.
