Summary of Position
Teaches in the Machining Technology Program in the School of Computer Science, Information, & Engineering Technology. Teaches lecture and lab courses to include but not limited to: blueprint reading, spatial visualization, applied (machining) math, manual machining, CNC machining, Machine Tool Theory, CAD/CAM, and quality control. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources. Teaches, monitors and advises students while they practice within the machining lab. Performs student learning outcome assessments to make continuous improvements in learning outcomes. Actively engages in the promotion of workplace health and safety-related areas. Collaborates with other instructors and staff to provide appropriate learning opportunities for students.
Faculty members are expected to maintain a consistent, in-person presence on location throughout the standard workweek. This includes being available on-site each day to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and participate fully in the academic life of the institution. Regular on-site engagement during normal business hours is an essential component of this role.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Minimum of two of these industry certifications or similar: NIMS, HAAS, FANUC, MASTERCAM, SOLIDWORKS.
Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications: At least an associate's degree in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering technology or closely related field; minimum of two of these industry certifications or similar: NIMS, HAAS, FANUC, MASTERCAM, SOLIDWORKS; three or more years of industry experience in machining or related role; experience teaching machining (classroom or lab-based); and demonstrated proficiency in current industry technology in Manual and CNC Mill & Lathe; fluency in CAD/CAM software; and Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering technology, Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related discipline. Minimum eight years of industry experience in machining or related role. Strong communication and mentoring skills. Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail. Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a rich academic community. Service Focus. Quality of Work. Possess strong organizational and time-management skills. Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.
Sedentary: work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
