How You’ll Make an Impact

The CNC Grinder will utilize strong manufacturing skills and experience with CNC machines and controls to support production of precision components. This mid-level role is responsible for machine set-up, operation, troubleshooting, and inspection to ensure parts meet specifications, while contributing to a safe, efficient, and world-class manufacturing environment.

What you’ll be doing as an Advanced CNC Grinder:

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Sumner, WA location. (4-10s Monday - Thursday)
  • Set up and operate CNC grinding machines in accordance with work orders, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and report discrepancies to lead or supervisor.
  • Conduct thorough first-part inspections and make adjustments as needed.
  • Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Adjust machine controls for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
  • Recognize and communicate production or quality problems, escalating as appropriate.
  • Complete assigned tasks within required timeframes with moderate supervision.
  • Assist in training or supporting entry-level operators as needed.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines, including proper use of equipment and protective procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties in the machine shop or other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience):

  • 3-5 years of experience in CNC machining or grinding operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC machines.
  • Working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and machine functions.
  • Ability to independently follow instructions and concentrate for long periods of time.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Consistent work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience):

  • Good writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with MS applications
  • Strong skills and aptitude in math
  • Completion of vocational or college training in machine shop (Certificate of completion of basic machining course)

Work Environment:

A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Employee Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability and 401(k) with up to 6% QACA company match.

The CNC Grinder Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $25/hr-$35/hr commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
