CNC BURN TABLE OPERATORS

 1st Shift

(7:30 am - 3:30 pm)

(Monday-Friday)

Pennsylvania Steel Company, Inc. is a leading distributor of steel and aluminum. We are a privately and veteran owned business.

Pennsylvania Steel has been in business since 1972 and has expanded to 11 locations, becoming one of the largest Steel Service Centers in the eastern United States.

The Birmingham, AL branch is looking for CNC Burn Table Operators for 1st Shift.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Operate CNC-controlled burn table to cut steel plate and sheet metal according to job specifications.

Load and unload material using material handling equipment.

Interpret work orders, blueprints, and CAD files to set up machine parameters.

Monitor machine operations and make adjustments necessary to ensure quality and accuracy.

Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.

Fulfill work orders involving order pulling, part marking, and packaging.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all workplace safety policies and procedures.

Other assignments as directed.


Overall Qualifications:

  • Ability to read micrometers and tape measures
  • Forklift exp.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Familiar with basic computer systems

Skills Required & Physical Demands:


Proficient in Windows-based software and CNC control interfaces.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Strong understanding of decimals, fractions, and basic trigonometry.

Proficient with tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.

Comfortable working in an industrial setting around machinery, overhead cranes, and moving equipment.

Able to stand, bend, and lift throughout a full shift, including regular lifting over 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.

Must tolerate temperature fluctuations in an open warehouse environment.”
