Position Information
Job Title
Energy Plant Manager
Nature of Work
Manage energy plant operations, as well as, the tunnel utility systems to meet campus needs. This includes the supervision and coordination of the staff.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Supervises full-time and part-time personnel, which includes hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
2. Implements and enforces procedures to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
3. Ensures policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the unit are followed.
4. Coordinates and performs operation and maintenance of all energy plant equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, chiller tower, and sensors.
5. Coordinates tunnel utility system operation and maintenance needs.
6. Typically works Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm; however this position's hours would flex from time to time in order to provide coverage for staff absences in the energy plant which operates 24/7.
7. Manages work requests and preventative maintenance services by accessing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
8. Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment.
9. Provides input to the Assistant Director of Energy & Utilities regarding potential efficiencies within the energy plant, potential efficiencies within the utility tunnel systems, and regarding the unit's budgets.
10. Works effectively with faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors in the delivery of maintenance services.
11. Responsible for maintenance and chemistry of various closed-loop heat/cooling systems on campus.
12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of Energy & Utilities.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Employee must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, bend, crouch, climb ladders, and assist in safe lifting in excess of 75 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree.
  • Supervisory level work experience.
  • Applicable certifications (boiler/chiller).

Salary Information
