Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor leads and directs the maintenance department team members by coordinating the safety, maintenance, and equipment needs of the production departments, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Initiates and maintains effective and professional relationships with suppliers, actual and potential.
  • Ensures current Certificate of Insurance copies are maintained for all vendors and contractors that enter our premises or work on our equipment or facilities. Also includes freight carriers and certain farm-out vendors.
  • Utilizes CMMS for the creation of task lists and maintenance plans to assist in job planning.
  • Estimates the skills and labor hours needed to perform work by visiting job site of new work order requests and coordinating with technicians.
  • Works closely with operations scheduling to ensure that all maintenance functions are scheduled in the best manner so as not to disrupt critical customer schedules.
  • Communicates work order status with maintenance and operation personnel, visits with operators to discuss work orders and issues on equipment.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the information on work order requests before converting them to work orders.
  • Converts work requests to work order in the CMMS/EAM system.
  • Manages work backlogs (planned and unplanned) utilizing the CMMS system.
  • Prepares the weekly schedule and reviews it with maintenance manager.
  • Establishes job priorities, with the assistance of production and maintenance manager.
  • Plans for interruptions at work and develop backup plans.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration.
  • Defines scope, cost and engineering needed for outage jobs.
  • Maintains the plants preventive and predictive maintenance program.
  • Utilizes predictive data (Thermography, vibration reports, oil analysis, etc.) to assist in setting priorities for outage work.
  • Assist the failure analysis effort by helping implement corrective actions that are needed to prevent reoccurrence of equipment failure.
  • Assesses and recommends when work will be performed with internal resources or if the work should be contracted to an outside vendor.
  • Responsible for oversight of critical spares and parts inventory. Ensure that store items are available and reserved for scheduled work.
  • Ensure kits are built for planned work to ensure timely completion of work orders with the appropriate labor assignments.
  • Updates equipment history
  • Responsible for maintaining all safety notifications and work orders in CMMS.
  • Ensure that all completed work orders are properly closed out.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance/Production Manager and/or GM.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma. Degrees and/or certificates in maintenance prefreed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong mechanical background, including electrical, electronic and mechanic.
  • Strong mathematical, computer and reading skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Folding Carton experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in managing projects and maintenance teams as they deliver continuous improvement.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in industrial plant maintenance.
  • Proficient in blue print reading and trouble shooting of electrical/electronic and hydraulic operations of equipment.
  • Technical experience with high voltage systems, motor control, process automation, instrumentation on and programmable logic controls (PLC's).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
