Job description

Anticipated behavior interventionist at CMHS, 7 hours per day, school term.  Starting rate of pay for a behavior interventionist is $17.75/hr.  Hours are based on student need.  

Qualifications:  Bachelor's or Associate's degree in education, human services or a related field (preferred); or the combination of education and experience enough to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or presently pursuing degree; or High school diploma, with a minimum of one year of experience with on-the-job interpersonal communications; Must agree to be fully certified in Safety Care, Restorative Practices and any additional trainings as assigned, and maintain certification status.

Job Goals:  Employees in this position will develop the skills to form positive relationships with students experiencing academic, behavioral and/or attendance difficulties in school and with their families. The behavior interventionist will collaborate with district administration to support families and encourage attendance and effort in school. This position will also assist students and provide opportunities to discuss and problem solve rather than react in emotionally charged and conflict type situations. The behavior interventionist will encourage mentees to find pro-social solutions to problems and to seek out those who can assist in resolving the issues faced.
