Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Management Database Administrator located at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. Astrion is responsible for the management and administration of the NASA Ames Engineering Directorate's electronic database document and inventory tracking system (EDDITS). The database records and tracks collection of the NASA Ames Engineering directorate flight project and critical ground support documents; drawings, specifications, processes, reports, and project support equipment, raw materials, unfinished products, transitional, and cyclical inventories. The administrator ensures all documentation revision, configuration, and material inventories transactional history and pedigree is captured, managed, and controlled in compliance with NASA standards, policies, and specifications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • 10 to 15 years of experience working in a document and inventory software data management and oversight position
  • Working knowledge and detailed experience with Claris FileMaker software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage a complex database system including the ability to create, modify and manage the FileMaker database system
  • Understanding of process development, project flows, and document development
  • Ability to implement changes efficiently and effectively
  • Mathematical and analytical skills
  • Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events
  • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and independent thinker

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Working understanding of NASA documents and inventories configuration control and management highly desired
  • Knowledge and experience with NASA standards and best practices, especially related to Configuration Management, a benefit
  • Exceptional customer relationship management highly desirable

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for management, sustaining operation, and day to day function and implementation of the electronic database document and inventory tracking system (EDDITS) in support of NASA Ames missions and projects
  • Ensure functionality, process control documentation, data control, and all associated information as captured in EDDITS
  • Maintain software revision control and certification compliance
  • Installation of system software across multiple platforms and systems
  • Have a detailed understanding and knowledge of EDDITS database system
  • Perform, test and deploy software and process flow updates
  • Manage day to day document and inventory data configuration control, process flow, and release of documents and inventories through EDDITS project users and NASA customers
  • Tracking, mitigating, and reporting on EDDITS software issues, concerns, and discrepancies to both NASA and contractor management
  • Working with user and service providers to ensure understanding of compliance with, and application of the database is achieved
  • Working with the project managers, systems engineers, and technical staff to improve the overall database, process controls, and resolve issues
  • Respond to NASA management to ensure user accounts are correct and current, reports are generate, and ensure government ordered audits are responded to.
  • Responsible for monthly, annual, and periodic documentation and reports
  • Identify, communicate, and deconflict tasks and deliverables
  • Interface with Government, contractors, and mission partner staff
