How much do club accounting jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 29, 2026, the average hourly pay for club accounting in the United States is $22.08, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.75 and $24.52 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a club accountant?

A club accountant is responsible for managing the financial records of a club or organization, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting. They often use accounting software and need strong attention to detail to ensure accurate financial management within the club environment.

What's the highest paid job in accounting?

The highest paid roles in accounting are often Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Partner at accounting firms, with CFOs typically earning six-figure salaries and partners earning even more based on firm profits. These positions require extensive experience, advanced certifications like CPA or CMA, and strong leadership skills. Compensation varies by industry, company size, and geographic location.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Club Accounting, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Club Accounting often navigate challenges such as managing multiple revenue streams (like membership dues, event fees, and food services), ensuring compliance with club-specific financial regulations, and handling seasonal fluctuations in income. Building strong relationships with club managers and department heads can help streamline budgeting and reporting processes. Implementing robust accounting software tailored for clubs and regularly attending industry training can also improve accuracy and efficiency in managing club finances.

Can you make $500,000 a year as an accountant?

Club accountants or accounting professionals in specialized roles can potentially earn $500,000 annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced certifications, or senior management positions. However, such high salaries are uncommon and typically require working in large organizations, high-level executive roles, or niche areas with significant responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Club Accounting, and why are they important?

To thrive in Club Accounting, you need a solid grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting, typically backed by a degree in accounting or finance. Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, club management systems, and proficiency in Excel are commonly expected, and a CPA certification may be valued. Attention to detail, integrity, and strong organizational and communication skills help ensure accurate records and smooth collaboration with club management. These competencies are crucial for maintaining financial transparency, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management within a club environment.

Can you make $100,000 as a club accountant?

Club accountants typically earn less than $100,000 annually, with salaries varying based on experience, location, and the size of the club. Senior or specialized roles in larger clubs or with advanced certifications may reach or exceed this salary level, but it is not common for entry-level positions. Skills in financial management and accounting software are important for higher earning potential.

What is the difference between Club Accounting vs Bookkeeping?

AspectClub AccountingBookkeeping

Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding roles in club finance managementBasic financial record-keeping tasks

Club Accounting involves managing the financial records of clubs or organizations, often requiring accounting certifications and a deeper understanding of financial statements. Bookkeeping focuses on recording daily financial transactions and is generally less complex. While both roles handle financial data, Club Accounting typically requires more advanced skills and credentials, making it suitable for those seeking a comprehensive financial management position within clubs or associations.

What is club accounting?

Club accounting refers to the process of managing and recording the financial transactions and activities of a club or organization, such as investment clubs, sports clubs, or social clubs. This involves tracking income, expenses, member contributions, dues, and distributions, as well as preparing financial statements and tax documents. Proper club accounting helps ensure transparency, compliance with legal requirements, and fair allocation of funds among members.

Job description

Staff Accountant – Hotel, Resort & Club Accounting

Charlottesville / Waynesboro, VA  |  On-Site  |  $60,000 – $70,000 + Benefits + Hospitality Perks

Up to Par Management  |  Taylor Hospitality

Looking for a Staff Accountant role where your work actually moves the needle? Join the corporate accounting team at Taylor Hospitality and Up to Par Management — a fast-growing portfolio of hotels, resorts, private clubs, and hospitality venues — at one of the most exciting moments in our company's history.

We are forecasting 2026–2028 to be the strongest growth years in our history, and we are building the accounting team that will power it. If you want hands-on exposure to multi-property hotel and hospitality accounting, mentorship from seasoned finance leaders, and a clear runway into Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller roles — this is your seat.

Why You'll Love This Role
  • Real impact. You'll own meaningful work — full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and monthly financial reviews directly with our hotel, resort, and club clients. Not just data entry.
  • Career growth. We promote from within. Our Staff Accountants regularly advance to Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller roles as our portfolio expands.
  • CPA support. We support team members pursuing the CPA exam with study time, exam fee assistance, and continuing professional education (CPE).
  • Hospitality perks. Discounted and complimentary stays at our hotels and resorts, golf privileges at our managed clubs, and food & beverage discounts across the portfolio.
  • A team you'll actually like. We mean it when we say the best benefit is working with great people.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements — balance sheet, P&L, and membership financials — across our hotel, hospitality, and club portfolio.
  • Lead monthly financial review meetings with property-level clients: explain variances, tell the story behind the numbers, and recommend solutions.
  • Record and post journal entries from invoices, cash receipts, supplier invoices, and bank activity into the general ledger.
  • Perform month-end close: account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, intercompany entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and operating expenses against prior year and budget; surface variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, document, and train scalable accounting processes that grow with our portfolio.
  • Partner with operations, F&B, rooms, and club department heads to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support audit preparation, year-end close, and ad-hoc finance projects.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and the full month-end close cycle.
  • Hotel accounting, resort accounting, club accounting, or restaurant / F&B accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospitality accounting platforms — M3 Accounting Core, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Aptech ProfitSage, or similar — is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a variance to a non-accountant.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, or actively pursuing CPA licensure is a plus (we'll support you).
  • Sharp attention to detail; comfortable juggling multiple property entities and deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $60,000 – $70,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation, personal, and sick time
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • CPA exam support and continuing professional education (CPE) reimbursement
  • Hotel, resort, golf, and food & beverage perks across our managed properties
  • Clear career path to Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller
Location

This is an on-site position based in the Charlottesville / Waynesboro, Virginia area. We welcome applicants commuting from Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Crozet, Staunton, Albemarle County, Augusta County, Nelson County, Greene County, and the broader Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia region.
