Job description

GXM is seeking a Technical Writer to support the development, maintenance, and delivery of technical documentation for advanced operational and mission-focused systems supporting defense and space-related environments. This role will support documentation efforts for integrated C2 environments, systems integration activities, operational workflows, and enterprise modernization initiatives.
The selected candidate will work collaboratively with engineers, architects, developers, program managers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop clear, accurate, and compliant documentation supporting operational mission systems, digital engineering efforts, and technical program execution.
This role is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. Hybrid flexibility may be available over time based on mission requirements, program execution needs and achievement of objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including system documentation, SOPs, CONOPS, user guides, technical reports, interface documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Support documentation efforts for integrated mission systems, operational C2 environments, cloud-based platforms, and systems integration activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers, and SMEs to gather, analyze, and validate technical information.
  • Translate complex technical and engineering concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Develop documentation supporting Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities, including engineering artifacts, workflows, and architecture documentation.
  • Ensure documentation complies with program standards, style guides, cybersecurity requirements, and contractual deliverables.
  • Support development of documentation that describes architecture overviews, system diagrams, workflows, operational process documentation, and technical visualizations.
  • Collaborate with Configuration Management and Knowledge Management team to support documentation repositories, configuration management processes, version control activities, and controlled management of engineering and operational artifacts.
  • Support Agile and iterative development environments through continuous documentation updates and technical coordination activities.

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-6 years of technical writing experience supporting technical, engineering, software, or operational systems.
  • Experience developing documentation for enterprise-level systems, operational environments, or systems integration efforts.
  • Strong technical writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with documentation platforms such as Confluence, SharePoint, MadCap Flare, or similar tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, engineers, architects, and non-technical stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoW, defense, or space-related programs.
  • Familiarity with operational mission systems, C2 environments, or systems integration activities.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering or MBSE concepts and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting Agile, DevSecOps, or cloud-based development environments.
  • Experience with AI tools for documentation workflows.

$95,000-$135,000 salary + annual bonus eligibility + medical/dental/vision/STD/LTD/Life + 401(k) + PTO
