Staff Cloud FinOps Analyst
About the Role:
As a Staff Cloud FinOps Analyst- Eng, you will be a key driver of financial accountability and optimization within a defined Line of Business. This role combines deep expertise in public cloud cost governance, cost allocation, and data analysis with strong program execution to embed cost awareness into engineering decisions. You will lead complex FinOps initiatives, partner with engineering and finance stakeholders, and deliver actionable insights that improve cost efficiency and transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Strategic Leadership
  • Lead FinOps governance and rhythms of business within a Line of Business, including forecasting, budgeting, optimization tracking, and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain monthly forecasts and long-range plans for cloud cost and usage.
  • Act as the primary FinOps practitioner for a Strategic Line of Business, driving accountability and visibility.
  • Define and manage KPIs and metrics to track performance and outcomes.

Cost Awareness & Architecture Integration
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed cost awareness into design and architecture decisions.
  • Provide cost-to-serve insights to inform pricing strategies and capacity planning.

Optimization & Enablement
  • Identify, prioritize, and drive execution of cost optimization opportunities.
  • Support commitment strategies and partner with engineering on forecasting and budgets.
  • Drive tagging, allocations, and unit-cost visibility across services and teams.
  • Enable teams with dashboards, training, and anomaly detection practices.

Reporting & Tooling
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for cloud cost, optimization progress, and risks.
  • Translate complex billing data into actionable insights for engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Collaboration & Demand Planning
  • Collaborate with engineering, finance, and product teams on demand planning and cost management.
  • Partner with stakeholders to reconcile cloud spend and ensure accountability.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in FinOps or cloud financial management roles.
    • Minimum 2+ years hands-on experience with GCP (or similar - AWS, Azure) billing concepts.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in Excel and enterprise financial systems (SAP, Oracle).
    • Familiarity with cloud-native cost tools and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Budget governance and forecasting.
    • Cost allocation and tagging strategies.
    • Advanced data analysis and reporting.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).

The pay range for this position is $102,300 to $161,755. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
