Job description

Santa Monica Seafood, as an 80-year-old privately owned company, is the largest specialty wholesale distribution and processor of fresh and frozen seafood in the Southwestern U.S. with over 200,000 SF of facilities in 12 locations In California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Santa Monica Seafood is also well known locally for its two retail stores and cafes in Santa Monica and Costa Mesa. Santa Monica Seafood was the first and still the only seafood company in the United States to achieve FSSC 22000 certification for food safety management systems, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management programs, and BAP certification of its main processing facility.

Position Summary:
As a Packer, you are responsible for processing high-quality fresh fish to fulfill customer orders in a timely and accurate manner. This role also requires maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Package product with speed and accuracy to meet production standards
  • Place fish fillets and portions onto conveyor belts and processing equipment
  • Pack finished products into cases
  • Follow written and verbal instructions effectively
  • Work collaboratively with team members and support overall production goals
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequent walking and continuous standing required
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. over short distances


Work Environment:

  • Production area with cold temperatures (35-40F); appropriate warm clothing is required
  • Fast-paced, production-driven environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of warehouse or production experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and follow directions
  • Bilingual preferred but not needed.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting pay: $17.50 per hour, with a .50 cent increase after 3 months based on performance and good standing
