What are Clinical Nutrition Interns?

Clinical Nutrition Interns are students or recent graduates who work under the supervision of registered dietitians in healthcare settings, such as hospitals or clinics. Their primary role is to gain practical experience in assessing patients’ nutritional needs, developing nutrition care plans, and providing dietary counseling. They may also assist with nutrition education programs and research projects. This internship is often a requirement for those pursuing certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

What types of projects or responsibilities can a Clinical Nutrition Intern expect to handle during their internship?

As a Clinical Nutrition Intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of tasks such as assisting with patient nutrition assessments, developing meal plans under supervision, and participating in nutrition education sessions. Interns often work closely with registered dietitians and healthcare teams to support patient care and learn about clinical workflows.
