The Opportunity
Step into a leadership role within a laboratory that has been a cornerstone of community health for over a century. We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to drive technical excellence and operational success. This position is ideal for a high-level professional who enjoys a mix of complex bench work and departmental leadership.
The Role
As a Senior MLS, you will be directly responsible for the daily technical operations of a 24/7 laboratory environment. Beyond performing and interpreting complex testing, you will serve as a mentor and supervisor, ensuring the highest standards of accreditation readiness and staff competency.
Core Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Manage daily operations, implement new instrumentation, and oversee staff training and education.
  • Quality & Compliance: Lead accreditation readiness, ensure accurate proficiency survey submissions, and manage departmental policies and procedures.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze Performance Improvement (PI) data to document progress and drive efficiency.
  • Mentorship: Provide immediate supervision and competency assessments for lab staff and students.
  • Testing & Analysis: Perform laboratory testing, interpret results using deep scientific knowledge of disease processes, and recommend contingency testing when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemical Science.
  • Certification: Active ASCP Certification is required.
