The Director-Health Informatics Architecture designs and guides the strategic architecture of clinical informatics systems across the healthcare enterprise. This role bridges clinical, operational, and technical domains to ensure that informatics solutions are scalable, interoperable, and aligned with organizational goals for innovation, quality, and patient safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and integrate functions and services to support Overlake's goals and priorities. Define and maintain a multi-year roadmap for informatics platforms, including EHR optimization, data integration, and digital health initiatives.
  • Build effective working relationships throughout the organization with managers, staff, physicians, customers and suppliers. Collaborate with CMO, CNO, clinical leaders, IT, and data governance teams to ensure informatics architecture supports strategic priorities.
  • Provide leadership for effective service: Select qualified and competent employees; provide orientation and continuing education and development. Communicate Overlake Hospital's vision and priorities and facilitate development of team and individual goals in alignment with organization goals. Establish performance expectations and provide coaching to achieve positive results. Recognize effective performance and address performance needing improvement in an honest and timely manner. Empower staff to make decisions by providing information and tools. Serve as an effective role model of Overlake's Shared Values and encourage staff to develop and demonstrate those values.
  • Continually assess and improve care and services provided to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of customers. Foster continuous quality improvement by leading teams in use of quality management tools and processes.
  • Manage organizational resources with fiscal responsibility and promote effective allocation and utilization.
  • Lead the development of enterprise-wide informatics architecture, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
  • Oversee the design and integration of clinical systems, data platforms, and interoperability frameworks. Ensure systems are designed for scalability, security, and usability across diverse clinical environments.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, interoperability standards) for clinical and operational impact. Advocate for innovation in informatics to support care delivery transformation, population health, and precision medicine.
  • Establish and lead informatics architecture governance processes, including standards, frameworks, and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Medical degree required (APP degree may be used in lieu of MD). Advanced degree in health informatics, computer science, MBA or engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) or informatics (e.g., AMIA) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of management experience in clinical informatics, enterprise architecture, or healthcare IT is required. Ten years of related experience is preferred.
  • Special Training/Skills: Requires a proven track record of leading large-scale informatics initiatives in complex healthcare environments. Deep understanding of EHR systems (e.g., Epic), interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), and data architecture is also required. Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience with AI/ML applications in healthcare is preferred. Familiarity with cloud-based health data platforms and APIs also preferred.
