Job description

Job Summary

Medpace is expanding its Clinical Informatics team within the newly created Insights & Analytics department and is seeking a Manager to help lead this initiative in the United States. Medpace is a contract research organization that supports pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies through the planning and execution of clinical trials. The Clinical Informatics team develops dashboards, analyses, and applications that help study teams make data-driven decisions for the operation of their trials. This team also supports enterprise-wide application development that leverages interconnected data across Medpace and external systems to improve trial operations, visibility, and efficiency.

The Manager will serve as both a hands-on contributor and people leader for a growing team with an evolving scope. This individual will partner closely with Clinical and Medical Operations, Software Development, IT Architecture, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Biostatistics, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable data products. The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and excited to help shape team processes, standards, and strategy as the department continues to mature.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a US-based team of Clinical Informatics analysts while contributing directly to high-priority technical deliverables;
  • Evaluate operational data needs for assigned studies and recommend strategic, study-specific approaches to dashboards, analyses, applications, and other data products;
  • Partner with clinical and medical operations, software development, IT architecture, data engineering, business intelligence, and biostatistics teams to design and deliver scalable solutions;
  • Interact with relational data at both study- and enterprise-level inclusive of query, wrangling, analysis, visualization, validation, and reporting activities;
  • Establish and refine team processes, technical standards, documentation practices, validation expectations, and prioritization frameworks as the team grows;
  • Mentor analysts in programming, clinical trial operations, stakeholder communication, project planning, and solution design;
  • Support resource planning, sprint prioritization, project intake, and cross-functional communication for informatics workstreams; and
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, data accessibility, and enterprise-wide use of interconnected Medpace data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in informatics, computer science/engineering, biomedical engineering, health information, statistics, data science, life sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred;
  • Clinical research, clinical operations, or contract research organization experience;
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical or analytical team members;
  • Strong programming experience in R and SQL (additional experience with Snowflake and Python is highly valued);
  • Experience developing dashboards, web applications, analytical tools, or other data products for business or operational users;
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with team leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic planning;
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to translate complex operational questions into data-driven solutions; and,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, and clinical teams.
