What is the difference between Clinical Evaluation vs Clinical Research Associate?
| Aspect | Clinical Evaluation | Clinical Research Associate |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Medical or healthcare background, certifications in clinical evaluation | Degree in life sciences, certifications in clinical trial management |
| Work Environment | Medical device companies, regulatory agencies, healthcare settings | Clinical trial sites, pharmaceutical companies, CROs |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Regulatory compliance, product safety assessment | Monitoring clinical trials, data collection, site management |
While both roles involve clinical expertise, Clinical Evaluation focuses on assessing medical device safety and performance for regulatory approval, whereas Clinical Research Associates primarily oversee and monitor clinical trials to ensure data integrity and compliance. Duties of Position:
Assigns appropriate cases to each student when applicable or communicate with the OR Educator/Charge Nurse to determine appropriate student placement.
Monitors each student's progress throughout the course of the clinical rotation, through weekly site visits or in the direction of the clinical site.
Makes himself/herself available for students' questions and learning needs.
Exhibits professional behavior and serves as a role model for students.
Promotes patient and student safety.
Creates a positive and supportive learning environment, including being an advocate for the student's status as a learner.
Makes systematic observations and objective judgements about student performance.
Observes each student individually once a week.
Completes a weekly electronic survey documenting the student's progress.
Gives each student timely feedback about his/her performance, providing suggestions for improvement.
Meets regularly with the Program Coordinator to maintain productive two-way communication between the program and Operating Room personnel.
Midway and at the end of each rotation, prepares a Clinical Evaluation Form, documenting the progress of each student.
Provides feedback to the program about current department/hospital policies or changes in practice in the field and makes suggestions for program modifications or improvement.
Participates in continuing education seminars and in professional development opportunities to maintain current state-of-the-art knowledge and skills.
Attends two (2) meetings a year with the Program Coordinator and faculty to discuss program goals, policies and educational methodologies.
