Job Summary

The Clinical Shadower Program is designed for students to experience a value-based primary care setting with immersive, hands-on experience. This experience combines structuredclinical rotationswithshadowingto help students deepen their understanding of delivering high-quality, outcomes-focused care to senior populations.

Shadowers will gain exposure to clinical workflows, interdisciplinary care models, and preventive health strategies that are central to value-based care. Participants will rotate through clinical areas and observe experienced staff, gaining insights into both the clinical and operational aspects of senior-focused primary care delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clinical Rotation Component:
  • Participate in supervised clinical rotations across core areas of primary care.
  • Observes patient education, outreach, and follow-up initiatives.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary care teams to understand team-based care delivery.
  • Shadowing Component:
  • Observe attending physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistant and other healthcare professionals during patient visits.
  • Learn about clinical decision-making, care coordination, and communication strategies with senior patients. Attend team huddles, care planning meetings, and population health reviews.
  • Gain exposure to the business and clinical drivers of value-based care models.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the principles of value-based care and how they apply to primary care delivery.
  • Develop patient communication and documentation skills in a real-world clinical setting.
  • Observe evidence-based care practices aimed at improving outcomes for older adults.
  • Learn the importance of team-based, coordinated care in managing chronic conditions.
  • This is an observer ship internship and does not involve unsupervised patient care, shadower must comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, and clinical site requirements. Specify onboarding requirements: background check, and drug test.

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled or soon to be enrolled in an accredited medical school (MD or DO program) or nursing.
  • Strong interest in primary care, geriatrics, or value-based healthcare.
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team.
