What is a client success manager?

A Client Success Manager (CSM) is a professional responsible for building strong relationships with clients to ensure they achieve their desired outcomes with a company's products or services. CSMs act as the main point of contact for clients, helping them navigate onboarding, addressing concerns, and identifying opportunities for growth. Their role focuses on maximizing client satisfaction, retention, and long-term value. CSMs often work closely with sales, support, and product teams to advocate for client needs and foster loyalty.

How does a client success manager typically collaborate with other departments to ensure client satisfaction?

Client Success Managers regularly work cross-functionally with teams such as Sales, Product, and Support to address client needs and proactively solve issues. Our team is incredibly diverse with over 20 nationalities globally. We value smart and innovative people who also work effectively in a team environment and who are global players.
About the Role:
We are seeking a VP Client Success & Retention (f/m/x) to lead CEPRES' global customer success organization and drive long-term value across our institutional client base.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for customer retention, adoption, expansion, and strategic client engagement across private equity firms, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, asset managers, and other institutional investors. Working closely with Sales, Product, Data Delivery, Finance, and senior leadership, you will ensure clients realize measurable value from CEPRES solutions while supporting the company's continued growth.
The ideal candidate combines deep private markets expertise with a proven track record of leading customer-facing teams, managing executive-level relationships, and delivering commercial outcomes through client retention, renewals, cross-selling, and upselling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Success Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the global Customer Success strategy, including customer segmentation, engagement models, retention initiatives, expansion programs, and operational scalability.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global Customer Success organization that puts client needs at the center of everything we do.
  • Mentor and develop customer-facing teams across multiple locations while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Establish and monitor key customer success KPIs, including retention, net revenue retention, adoption, customer health, and client satisfaction metrics.
  • Build scalable customer engagement frameworks that support CEPRES' continued growth and expansion.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Act as executive sponsor for CEPRES' most strategic client relationships, building trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders and ensuring clients realize measurable value from our solutions and data offerings.
  • Develop strong relationships with institutional investors, private equity firms, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and asset managers.
  • Represent the voice of the customer in strategic planning discussions and influence product roadmap priorities based on client needs and market trends.
  • Support pre-sales and client engagement activities by partnering with Sales during strategic client discussions and contract negotiations.
Commercial Growth & Retention
  • Own client retention, renewals, expansion, cross-selling, and upselling strategies, partnering closely with Sales leadership to maximize customer lifetime value and revenue growth.
  • Identify opportunities to increase client adoption, deepen strategic partnerships, and expand CEPRES' footprint within existing accounts.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Oversee customer delivery, support operations, and service governance to ensure contractual commitments, SLAs, and customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Partner with Finance to support effective invoicing, collections, and remediation plans for delinquent accounts.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in customer success, account management, relationship management, or client services within financial services, fintech, financial software, data, or investment technology environments.
  • Experience leading global customer-facing teams and organizations.
  • Deep understanding of private markets, including Private Equity, Venture Capital, Private Credit, Infrastructure, Fund-of-Funds, and institutional investment workflows.
  • Experience in investment-related disciplines such as asset management, investment banking, consulting, accounting, audit, or financial services.
  • Experience working with enterprise B2B SaaS, financial software, data platforms, or investment technology solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project and operational management capabilities.
  • Customer-first mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
Benefits
  • Career Path in Private Markets Join a fast-growing company in one of the most dynamic areas of finance. You will learn from an international team, receive regular feedback, and have opportunities to grow your responsibilities over time.
  • Culture That Drives Ownership We value collaboration, transparency, and an entrepreneurial mindset-people who take initiative, deliver results, and support each other.
  • Commitment to Our People A diverse, inclusive, and international workplace with benefits and support designed to help you thrive.
  • Attractive compensation package that reflects your skills, contributions, and growth potential.
