POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Legal Client Services Manager to serve as a strategic partner to firm leadership, partners, clients, and internal operational teams while overseeing critical client and matter administration. This highly visible role manages the client lifecycle from new business intake through billing, collections, financial reporting, and outside counsel guideline compliance while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and client service. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented professional who brings strong legal operations or billing expertise, exceptional relationship management skills, and the confidence to independently support senior stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build trusted relationships with assigned partners and client legal operations teams, serving as a primary resource for client administration, billing, financial matters, and operational needs
  • Manage the full new business and matter intake lifecycle, coordinating matter openings, conflicts, staffing, billing requirements, outside counsel guidelines, rate arrangements, and internal setup
  • Oversee billing operations for assigned partners and clients, including invoice review and editing, e-billing compliance, rejected invoices, appeals, write-offs, accruals, budgets, and alternative fee arrangements
  • Proactively manage accounts receivable and collections while providing partners with reporting and analysis regarding work-in-progress, billing, collections, rates, and overall financial performance
  • Partner with pricing, accounting, professional development, billing, and other operational teams to manage rate adjustments, staffing needs, client requirements, and matter performance
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, compliance, and client service while exercising discretion and sound professional judgment
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Substantial experience in legal operations, legal billing, client operations, financial operations, or a comparable professional services environment; Am Law 200 or large law firm experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of legal billing and practice management systems such as Aderant, Elite/3E, iManage, or comparable platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with partners, senior professionals, clients, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Excellent financial, analytical, project management, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences
  • Highly organized and proactive self-starter capable of independently managing multiple partners, clients, deadlines, and competing priorities with minimal supervision
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
