Job description

ABOUT FIX IT PEOPLE
Fix It People is a Chicago-based handyman & home improvement company serving homeowners, property managers, and real estate professionals. We operate in a relationship-driven business where trust, responsiveness, and clarity matter as much as technical accuracy.
We’re hiring a Client & Sales Associate to support revenue generation at the front end of the business: managing incoming leads, developing quotes, and building client relationships. This is an entry-level role with real earning potential and a clear path to growth for the right person.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Client & Sales Associate handles the day-to-day of the sales pipeline: responding to inbound leads, developing scopes of work, preparing quotes, and following up to close. You’ll work closely with the GM and internal team to learn the business and build toward greater ownership over time.
This role follows the natural rhythm of the home services industry. During peak season (Q2–Q3), the focus is high-volume reactive sales — moving quickly, quoting accurately, and staying on top of the pipeline. During slower periods (Q4–Q1), there’s more room for relationship building, outreach, and business development.
We’re looking for someone who can operate in both modes and grow into the full scope of the role over time.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Client & Sales Support
– Manage inbound leads via phone, email, and CRM
– Respond to prospective clients promptly and professionally
– Develop clear, accurate scopes of work and quotes in collaboration with the internal team
– Follow up consistently on open opportunities
– Maintain organized records of leads, quotes, and client communication in Jobber
– Coordinate handoff from approved quote to scheduling and project execution
Growth & Development
– Learn the business, the trade categories, and how to scope and price work accurately
– Build familiarity with client types, lead sources, and pipeline management
– Begin identifying referral and relationship-based opportunities as you get up to speed
– Contribute ideas and flag opportunities as you develop a feel for the business
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Industry experience is not required — we’ll teach you the work. What matters most:
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once
– Self-directed and comfortable working independently
– Comfortable with technology — quick to learn new tools and systems
– Genuine interest in sales, client relationships, and business growth
– Hustle, reliability, and a good attitude
– Valid driver’s license & ability to attend occasional site visits
– 0–2 years of experience in a client-facing or sales-adjacent role; recent graduates welcome
WHAT THIS ROLE IS (AND ISN’T)
This role IS:
— A real opportunity to own a revenue-generating function and earn based on performance
— Client-facing, relationship-based, and judgment-driven
— A learning role with a clear growth path
— A mix of structured workflow and independent initiative
This role is NOT:
— A passive administrative or data-entry position
— A cold-call-heavy sales role
— A role where you’ll be managed step-by-step indefinitely
— Managing a sales team
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
– Base Salary: Commensurate with experience (starting $40,000+)
– Performance-Based Commission — earned on deposits personally collected on jobs personally sold
– Realistic total compensation for a strong performer: $55,000–$65,000+/year
– Commission supplement during ramp-up: guaranteed minimum earnings for the first 3 months;
commission floors waived for the first 6 months
– 10 Days Paid Vacation + 5 Days Sick Time (+ 8 Paid Company Holidays)
– Health Insurance Options (BCBS)
– Hybrid Remote / In-Person Role
– Small, collaborative team with real autonomy and input
LOCATION
– Chicago, IL
– Hybrid Remote with In-Person Assessments & Events as Needed
