The Opportunity

The Project Manager for Asset Engineering will be responsible for managing and orchestrating multiple small to medium size projects ranging from initial conceptual design to complete EpCM opportunities on existing generation facilities.  There is also potential to own projects in other areas such as sustainable generation, Data Centers, Oil & Gas, and Industrial sites. The position will be supported by our national team - a group focused on delivering value to our clients through high technical standards of work and a complete commitment to a one-team culture. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage and lead small teams of multi-discipline professionals.
  • Coordinate and integrate activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction and startup elements of the project including the activities of third party companies contributing to the work. 
  • Support client project development with feasibility studies, project cost and operating cost estimates, project schedule development, and project execution planning.
  • Provide technical support for client projects with design review services, development engineering support, design engineering services, construction monitoring/management, startup, testing, and commissioning support.
  • Provide proposal support for client projects with technical specification preparation, RFP support, and bid evaluation support.

Please note: This role has 25% to 50% travel to project and client sites. When not travelling, this role will be hybrid: 2 days per week remote, 3 days per week in-office out of our Houston, Texas office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively promote Black and Veatch's safety culture.
  • Respond to RFPs and prepare proposals for services work.
  • Lead project teams in conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, construction, startup and commissioning phases of plant modification and upgrade projects at combined cycle, simple cycle, coal fired units.
  • Interface between the client, external stakeholders, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Work in both a corporate and field environment.
Management Responsibilities
Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience including simple cycle, combined cycle, and plant expansion.
  • Experience in multiple phases of project execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant degree.
  • PE, P.Eng or equivalent professional license.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
