Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

As the Irrigation Manager, you will lead the operations of Clean Scapes' commercial irrigation department, ensuring high quality work, client service, and team performance across a portfolio of properties. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on leadership, overseeing field operations, scheduling, proposal review, client communication, and team development.Success in this role requires more than managing from the office. The right leader enjoys working alongside field crews when needed, earning trust through action while coaching and developing the next generation of irrigation professionals. You will set the standard for quality, safety, accountability, and operational excellence while partnering closely with account managers, clients, and internal departments to deliver exceptional service.


ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Department Leadership: Lead the day-to-day operations of the irrigation department, ensuring projects, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to Clean Scapes' high standard of quality.

  • Team Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and hold accountable irrigation technicians and administrative staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

  • Hands-On Leadership: Lead from the front by working alongside field crews when appropriate, providing coaching in real time while building trust, evaluating performance, and reinforcing company standards.

  • Scheduling & Logistics: Coordinate department scheduling for inspections, repairs, installations, and service work while balancing client priorities, technician availability, and operational efficiency.

  • Proposal Review & Estimating: Review, approve, and refine irrigation proposals to ensure technical accuracy, appropriate pricing, and clear communication of recommended solutions to clients.

  • Client Service: Develop strong relationships with clients through proactive communication, problem-solving, and timely follow-through via phone, email, and in-person meetings.

  • Technical Oversight: Provide leadership on complex irrigation troubleshooting, including conventional and two-wire systems, wire diagnostics, controller programming, pumps, flow management, backflow systems, and large commercial water distribution infrastructure.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all irrigation work meets or exceeds Clean Scapes' standards, conducting field inspections and providing coaching to maintain exceptional workmanship across every property.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Account Managers and other departments to deliver excellent service

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all department activities comply with company safety policies, irrigation regulations, licensing requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Operational Improvement: Support department initiatives, software adoption, reporting, and process improvements that increase efficiency while maintaining exceptional service quality.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Experience managing commercial irrigation operations, preferably within a commercial landscape environment servicing large-scale properties.

  • Proven experience leading, developing, and holding teams accountable while fostering a positive, collaborative culture.

  • Experience managing commercial irrigation systems, inspections, repairs, scheduling, and client relationships.

  • Experience reviewing technical proposals, estimating repairs, and communicating recommendations to clients.

  • While a degree is impressive, we recognize that what's on paper doesn't define you. Many of us have honed our craft at work rather than school. We'll consider both as a foundation of talent.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, + ABILITIES

  • Current Texas Irrigator License required. Backflow License preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, including conventional and two-wire systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and wire diagnostic experience, including locating faults and performing complex repairs.

  • Working knowledge of irrigation pumps, water sources, large commercial mainlines (up to 6"), valves, and distribution systems.

  • Strong understanding of irrigation inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and water management best practices.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional quality.

  • Comfortable using spreadsheets and business software to support scheduling, reporting, proposals, and operational management.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in the field and in the office.

  • A service-oriented leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and supporting the team wherever needed.
