Job description

Sun Valley Resort is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Massage Therapist to support daily operations within The Spa. This role provides high-quality massage therapy services while assisting with training, mentoring, and supporting the massage therapy team. The Lead Massage Therapist helps ensure exceptional guest experiences, maintains professional service standards, and supports a positive and collaborative spa environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Perform a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, aromatherapy, and other specialized modalities, to address clients’ specific needs.
  • Lead by example by providing exemplary customer service and always maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise massage therapy staff, guiding technique, client interaction, efficient time use, and spa protocols.
  • Conduct intake assessments and consultations with clients to determine their massage therapy needs and preferences.
  • Maintain accurate client records, including treatment notes and progress reports, in compliance with spa policies and regulations, if needed.
  • Collaborate with other spa departments, such as esthetics and fitness, to promote integrated wellness services and cross-promotional opportunities.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and new massage therapy techniques through continuing education and professional development.
  • Assist in developing and implementing spa promotions, events, and marketing initiatives to drive business growth and revenue.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate to management any occurrences involving staff or guests that require attention, and assist in fostering a positive work environment. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold and maintain a valid Idaho State license or certification in massage therapy.
  • Strong knowledge of numerous modalities offered on the menu and be able to train on those specific massages and body services offered. 
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, staff, and management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and client confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Â
