Position Summary

In consultation with the Senior Director of Operations and Ice Operations Managers, the Ice Operations Coordinator oversees and coordinates the day-to-day ice operations of the complex, including but not limited to ice maintenance, ice resurfacer maintenance, equipment safety, and capital projects. Also, will assist with front and back of house, conversion, and janitorial services. Provides overall administrative planning, coordination, and policies to the ice operations staff, assuring the highest quality service and delivering the highest level of ice conditions. This position will be working primarily nights and weekends.

This role pays an hourly rate of $22.00

About the Venue

Located in the heart of the Maryland Park Lake District in Maryland Heights, Centene Community Ice Center and Saint Louis Music Park is an $83 million project funded through a public-private partnership with support from the City of Maryland Heights, St. Louis County, and the State of Missouri. This state-of-the-art facility features four NHL-sized ice sheets, including a covered outdoor rink designed as a multi-purpose venue for concerts, festivals, and other events. The primary tenants and major capital partners of the Centene Community Ice Center include the St. Louis Blues, Lindenwood University, St. Louis Blues Alumni, the St. Louis Blues AAA program, and the St. Louis Lady Cyclones. In addition to on-ice activity that extends beyond hockey, the facility offers sports medicine, therapy, training, and other ancillary medical services through Mercy Rehabilitation in partnership with EXOS Training. Other tenants include TPH Academy, the Pure Hockey retail store, 101 ESPN Radio, and more. The facility also features many food and beverage options, including 314 Social, which strives to be a St. Louis hockey bar and restaurant by providing a flair to St. Louis favorites; the Schnucks Grab N Go for quick and easy selections; and our general concessions.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees daily operation and maintenance of the ice rinks to ensure the highest quality ice surface on all four ice rinks, including glass and dasher board maintenance and cleaning and ice logo installation.
  • Proven ability in operating Olympia ice resurfacers and conducting the necessary preventative maintenance.
  • Safely operate Olympia ice resurfacers to maintain the ice surface before, during, and after groups.
  • Assist with yearly ice removal and installation.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety compliance
  • Assist custodial staff with cleaning of locker rooms, emptying trash, sweeping floors, and other jobs as assigned.
  • Perform general labor, including removing dasher walls and glass, setting of tables and chairs, building stages, setting pipe and drape, detail cleaning, exterior maintenance, snow removal, painting, etc.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve ice operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders, and facility users.
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.
  • Exemplify the CCIC and OVG customer service principles.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Ice Opeations Manager, Senior Director of Operations, or General Manager.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years' experience in ice and facility operations management.
  • Must show demonstrated knowledge of ice maintenance and experience in work crew coordination within facility operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays, and extended numbers of days.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a driver license.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous experience operating Olympia ice resurfacers is a plus.
