Job description

What to Expect
Wonderist Agency is a full-service marketing agency that supports 1,000+ dentists around the country. We pride ourselves on ditching the old fashioned marketing model of stock photos and templated sites. We strive to tell our clients' stories with bespoke brands, impactful photo and video shoots, and stunning website design (Here is a great example of our work: www.valordentaltx.com)
We're a team of over 70+ passionate marketers nestled in sunny San Diego. We are walking distance from local hangouts, bars, and the famed Liberty Station. While many companies simply check the required boxes when it comes to culture, a well-balanced team and positive office culture has been the core of our success from the start. We are a social team at heart, and that is one constant that hasn't changed with all the movement this economy and industry has seen. We have embraced a hybrid work model where local team members come in at least two days a week. This allows us to work from home and have flexibility, without altogether forgoing the excitement and moments of collaboration and inspiration you can only get from in-person time. Not to mention, we also genuinely enjoy spending time together and socializing.
We celebrate new ideas and prioritize a culture of trust and respect where team members can grow and take risks. Each quarter we host events under our four cultural pillars; health & wellness, personal & professional development, social good, and social. We are proud to have been named one of San Diego Business Journal's Best Places to Work in 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, made the Inc 5000 Regionals Fastest Growing Companies 2021, 2022 and 2024, made the San Diego Business Journal's Fastest Growing Private Companies list in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023, made the Inc Best Workplaces list in 2024 and made the Inc. 5000 for the last 6 years (2019-2025)!
If you work at Wonderist, you likely enjoy a challenge, appreciate autonomy, actually care about clients, and are looking for a team that you can enjoy being part of.
Job Description:
The heart of a Project Manager's role is driving clients' happiness and helping them meet their business goals. You will take ownership of client accounts from onboarding through the entire project phase, before handing off clients to our Client Success Managers. In this role as a Project Manager, you will shape the ideas of the project, define clear goals and objectives in consultation with other departments, organize notes and key assets, all while keeping the project on a set timeline. The Project Manager is expected to create an environment that maintains a balance between allowing the creative talent freedom to explore ideas, while still making sure the team meets deadlines and creates strong project deliverables, requiring excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
As Project Manager, you will shoulder the responsibility of not just launching projects, but launching them with precision and strategic insight. Your role involves cultivating intentional strategies and nurturing relationships to fortify client retention, enthusiasm and collaboration during the project phase. Given that project management's impact extends across our entire array of services, your agility as a team player becomes pivotal to seamless collaboration.
Essential Functions
  • Project Management: You will move Branding, Website, Creative Collateral, and Photo & Video projects forward, both internally with our team and externally with our clients, trafficking deliverables and feedback. You will manage project schedules, communicate timelines and expectations, collect and organize assets, prioritize tasks, and ensure deadlines are met. Throughout various projects, you will routinely QA designers' and web developers' work to guarantee quality and also provide creative direction as needed.
  • Client Communication: You will be your clients' primary point of contact, functioning as a liaison between them and our team. You'll lead onboarding calls with clients, be a master note-taker, and maintain a consistent communication cadence with clients. You will be responsible for maintaining the most up-to-date information about our clients within Zoho CRM & Monday.com, notifying other departments of any changes to their account or business.
  • Customer Service and Client Retention: You will field any client questions or requests, troubleshooting issues to the best of your knowledge and/or escalating them to the appropriate team members when necessary. Your goal is to ensure long-term satisfaction and development of client relationships.
  • Quality Assurance and Creative Direction: You ensure that all our work is branded appropriately for each client, accurate, and high-quality. From guiding feedback on print collateral to reviewing websites or ad copy, you will always strive to dot every i and cross every t, before delivering work to a client.
  • Marketing Strategy: Identify opportunities and goals for clients and match those opportunities with the best strategies to meet their needs. In addition to coming up with your own marketing ideas, and working with local sales reps on feasibility and execution, you should feel confident presenting recommendations to our clients.
  • Upsells and Expansions: Drive upsells and expansion opportunities by understanding client goals and proactively sharing with them services that may help them achieve those goals.
  • Agent of Positive Change: You will help to identify workflows and processes that can better and escalate the areas of improvement through the proper channels.

Core Competencies
  • Intuitive Communication: You will be a client's primary point of contact and responsible for relaying updates to our team; you must be personable, professional, responsive and well-organized. There is an intuition needed in this role to differentiate between moments when an email will suffice and when you need to pick up the phone.
  • Obsessive Attention to Detail: Project Managers guide feedback and traffic projects between clients and team members. You will share accountability for the accuracy and quality of our company's work. Attention to detail is crucial, but so is the ability to read between the lines. Being able to interpret client feedback, ask qualifying questions and make sure our clients' voices are heard is critical to the success of any project.
  • Expert Organization and Project Management: If someone asks you to describe yourself and you wouldn't say "organized," you need not apply. Project Managers must be organized and on top of all client needs, acting as the project owner to oversee deadlines and facilitate deliverables. You will need an exceptionally strong ability to multitask and prioritize accordingly, keeping track of outstanding assets and tasks.
  • Understanding of Digital Marketing: You will be responsible for piloting the handoff between Project Management and Client Success and taking detailed notes to ensure a streamlined transition. Throughout your clients' scoped projects, you must also become familiar with their practice's growth goals and service focus areas, in order to make sound recommendations during the handoff phase, so that our clients can ground running with marketing services. Websites should be optimized properly for SEO, PPC, Funnels, and Social Media, which is the Project Manager's job to oversee and verify that our final project deliverables are conversion-focused.
  • Resourceful and Confident Self-Starter: Once you learn the ropes, we'll expect you to own your accounts to keep projects moving forward. You will need to take the initiative to make decisions and recommendations, and to follow up with clients to progress projects and maintain successful relationships. Your ability to launch projects in a timely manner and troubleshoot any roadblocks preventing a timely launch, will have a direct impact on MRR. You will solve problems every single day, so we need someone with a solutions-oriented mind.
  • Takes Pride In Work: We need someone who takes any project, big or small, and puts everything they have into it. Mistakes are okay. Sloppiness is not.

Personality Musts:
Our perfect fit is someone who is a problem solver who understands the difference between "yes, and..." and "yes, but...". You should be a hungry, scrappy personality with a positive attitude and aims to deliver. Working in the client service industry can mean going the extra mile, and we need someone who is always willing to rise to the occasion for our clients and strives to put forward beautiful work that exceeds client expectations. Someone who is detailed and organized, driven and displays vigor and comes ready to play every day. Confidence, self-discipline, and a congenial, curious mind are things we love and admire.
