THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Benefits Analyst provides a critical role in maintaining client relationships, collaborating with client service teams to support client goals. This position provides technical and underwriting support, including renewal analysis, benchmarking, and contribution modeling. The role requires a solid understanding of employee benefits, strong Excel and math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal team members and external partners.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as the analytical subject matter in strategy meetings with Account Executive and Producer, including, but not limited to, communicating the status of marketing activity.

  • Supports renewal analysis, benchmarking, and contribution modeling.

  • Addresses carrier questions during Market Analysis process and advises carriers on the client benefit strategy.

  • Conducts the Market Analysis process: Develops and communicates strategy for Market Analysis, analyzes Market Analysis results, and prepares internal summaries and presentation content.

  • Examines benefits and claims data for Market Analysis, including reviewing census files and ensuring data accuracy.

  • Organizes and tracks carrier and vendor bids, follows up on outstanding submissions, and addresses carrier questions during the process.

  • Reviews insurance bids for compliance with specifications, identifying key differences in bids, and maintaining client databases within internal systems.

  • Supports plan change tracking, rate negotiations, renewal analysis, benchmarking, and contribution modeling.

  • Creates and updates templates, timelines, exhibits, and presentation-ready reports for internal and client use.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School / GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education & experience

  • Must hold a valid CA Life Agent license

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Computer Skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced skills in Excel; Project Management software and Database software preferred.

  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.

  • Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to effectively work with a team and coach others in developing their skills and abilities.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

  • Ability to ready, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000k depending on geographical location and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
