Job description

Description:

About Us

All In One Accounting is a 7-time winner of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the Twin Cities and one of the Best Places to Work in the Minneapolis area. Our purpose is simple: to make the lives of entrepreneurial and nonprofit leaders better. We do that by supporting profitable growth, protecting assets, and amplifying impact — bringing financial clarity and strategic leadership to the clients who need it most. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which means clear goals, strong accountability, and a team that executes with intention.

A bit about the role:

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic Nonprofit Accountant to support a portfolio of mission-driven organizations — from social service agencies and foundations to advocacy groups and community organizations. This role is pivotal in helping nonprofits achieve financial clarity and operational confidence through proactive accounting and consulting. You'll work as part of AIOA's delivery team model, managing multiple client relationships and making a real difference in organizations doing important work.

Now about you...

We hire for hungry, humble, and smart — and here's what that looks like at AIOA. Hungry means you bring initiative to every client, push beyond the task at hand, and look for ways to improve processes without being asked. Humble means you know when to escalate, you take feedback well, and you make your team better by being a reliable, low-ego contributor. Smart — in our world — means people-smart and situationally aware: you read clients well, communicate clearly, and know how to navigate complexity without creating noise. If that sounds like you, you'll thrive here.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Client Responsibilities

• Execute day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of nonprofit clients, collaborating closely with your Controller and CFO

• Track, reconcile, and report net assets with and without donor restrictions in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards

• Process and review accounts payable with accurate vendor setup and fraud prevention

• Conduct thorough monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts

• Manage accounts receivable and supports collection efforts on outstanding invoices

• Prepare accurate month-end journal entries and ensure all entries are properly documented

• Assist with grant tracking, reporting, and compliance support

• Monitor budget variances and communicate significant variances proactively to your Controller and CFO

• Prepare and process client payroll with attention to accuracy, compliance, and nonprofit-specific tracking requirements.

• Utilize current processes and tools, including code red alerts, to proactively identify and prevent fraud throughout all client accounting processes

• Maintain robust internal controls across client accounts

• Support audit preparation including schedules, documentation, and reconciliations

• Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence

Internal Responsibilities

• Complete all internal responsibilities including time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives

• Actively participate in All In One Accounting's Brand Ambassador program, representing our mission and values

• Uphold security practices to protect client assets effectively

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience

• Experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment strongly preferred

• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or public accounting

• Experience with fund accounting and nonprofit financial reporting

• Familiarity with grant compliance and donor restricted fund management

• Strong technical aptitude with QuickBooks Online and other accounting platforms

• Excellence in written and verbal communication

• Proven ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration

• Experience with fraud prevention and internal controls
