Job description

Job Description:
Nassau Community College (NCC) is seeking a Clerk-Typist I Part-Time to perform routine clerical duties using a keyboard all or part of the time, general clerical work, filing, and related duties, as required. Under direct supervision, the duties require the use of limited judgment, and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy, and correctness.
In addition, the Clerk-Typist I Part-Time will:
  • Type reports, letters, schedules, memoranda, and forms.
  • Perform routine filing, both manually and automatically.
  • Operate a computer workstation keyboard.
  • Operate standard office copying machines.
  • Act as receptionist, give information, and explain well-defined rules.
  • Proofread applications, letters, and documents for typographical errors and completeness.
  • Answer routine correspondence.
  • Scan, file and manage electronic documents.
Requirements:
The minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or two (2) years of satisfactory clerical experience which included typing.
The Clerk-Typist I Part-Time should have:
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation keyboard.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Candidate must be a current resident of Nassau County for at least one (1) year.
Additional Information:
The pay rate for the Clerk-Typist I Part-Time position is $18.65 per hour.
