Job description

The Patient Care Technician is be expected to work in various areas of Baptist Healthcare (to include but not limited to Baptist Hospital, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Emergency Departments and Jay Hospital) to provide support to licensed team members. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Technician performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. This position spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. The Patient Care Technician performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Technician performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care.

  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of data collected.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification.
  • Assumes clerical duties necessary to assist the healthcare team to provide patient care.
  • Maintains supplies/inventory for department.
  • Receives and directs phone calls and serves as the receptionist for the department.
  • Float throughout Baptist Heath Care System in one or more areas of practice as required.
