Job description

Summary

Responsible for promoting and supporting successful breastfeeding for patients. Assures delivery of quality care to breastfeeding mothers with incorporating evidence based practices to promote breastfeeding success and help mothers to achieve personal goals. Promotes breastfeeding through inpatient visits, community outreach efforts, and support groups.

Education

Requires a Diploma in Nursing or an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification

RN License by the State of Board of Nursing.  Must obtain Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) within one year of hire.  IBCLC preferred but not required. If IBCLC is obtained, the CLS or CLC is not required to maintain. Current CPR certification.  For Lagrange only, must have a valid driver's license and proof of car insurance.

Experience

Demonstrates experience in customer service, establishing priorities, and working independently.

Other Qualifications

Must have good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
