Job description

We are currently seeking a Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our loving and experienced team at our Wakefield center. In this role, you will lead a classroom of curious and active toddlers, guiding them through essential milestones with patience, positivity, and purpose.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
  • EEC Teacher Infant Toddler and Preschool Certification or CDA (preferred, not required)
  • Daycare experience in a center-based, private, or public-school setting
  • An energetic approach to learning and an positive attitude
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a strong team-focused mindset
Some requirements for this role include:
  • Flexibility to work an 8-hour shift within the operating hours of the school, including opening and closing shifts
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
  • Attentiveness, strong time management, and strong collaboration skills
As a Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for:
  • Collaborating with your co-teacher to equally prepare curriculum, lesson plans, materials, and monthly newsletters.
  • Keeping parents informed by posting parent information on the Class Dojo app and classroom boards.
  • Providing a safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing classrooms.
  • Encouraging children’s participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the classroom: routine opening/closing of the classroom (including, but not limited to wiping down the toys, cleaning tables, vacuuming the room, sanitizing the room (after all children have left), bathrooms, emptying trash, and overall preparation of the classroom for the next morning.
  • Engaging with students in free play, supervising/zone during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and meal assistance (preparing snacks, heating up lunches, cutting up food, helping open containers, supervision), naptime assistance, etc.
  • Adhering to the school's structured schedules.
  • Tracking children’s progress and completing assessments.
  • Maintaining your EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings.
  • Creating a fun and safe learning environment for your students.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.
