Job Description
Rogers Group Inc. is currently seeking an 870 Material Handler Operator for Port of Mobile Resale Yard, Mobile, Alabama Operations area, Alabama SMA reporting to the General Manager of Aggregates. This position starts at $28/hr and is a day shift role. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.

Job Details:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate an 870 Material Handler (crawler or wheeled configuration) equipped with clamshell, or other attachments.
  • Load and unload trucks, railcars, barges, or containers.
  • Sort, stack, and move materials in accordance with site procedures and safety regulations.
  • Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, leaks, greasing).
  • Monitor machine systems and report issues or defects to maintenance personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with ground crews, crane operators, and other personnel to ensure smooth operation flow.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety regulations and procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of hazards.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs or input into systems as needed.
  • May assist in training new operators or laborers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Front-End Loader operator preferred.
  • Previous Quarry or Sales Yard experience preferred.
  • Experience operating other heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, wheel loaders, cranes) required
  • Hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting skills preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, safety manuals, and job instructions required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety required
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods, climb into/out of equipment, and work in outdoor environments.
  • Able to do safety and maintenance inspections throughout the day.
  • Experience working with loading trucks/barges preferred.
  • Ability to understand basic safety and work instruction.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Good organizational, scheduling and time management skills.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Working outdoors in varied weather conditions with the probability of dust, noise, heat, and cold.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
