Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Claims Specialist administers and evaluates general liability, automobile liability, and third-party property damage claims. This position exercises independent judgment in reviewing claim facts, assessing documentation, coordinating resolution activities, and recommending appropriate next steps to help ensure claims made against the Company are handled fairly, efficiently, proactively, and in accordance with industry best practices. The role also supports the Company's broader Risk Management and Safety strategies and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
May perform any or all of the following duties:
  • Evaluate, document, and administer general liability, automobile liability, and third-party property damage claims from initial report through resolution.
  • Analyze claim-related information, including incident reports, witness statements, photographs, repair estimates, police reports, and other supporting documentation, to identify claim issues, exposure, and recommended next steps.
  • Exercise discretion in coordinating claim-related communications with claimants, restaurant operations, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate claim files and make informed updates to the Company's Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and related claims systems to support claim evaluation, reporting, and resolution.
  • Evaluate, retrieve, preserve, and maintain video and electronic evidence necessary to support claims analysis, investigations, and resolution recommendations.
  • Prepare wage statements, records requests, and other claim-related documentation, as needed.
  • Process incoming invoices, check requests, and deposits, as needed.
  • Contribute to the Company's broader Risk Management and Safety strategies and initiatives by identifying claim trends, escalating potential risk issues, and supporting franchise and landlord certificate of insurance (COI) compliance, CCTV maintenance, and safety inspection follow-up activities.
  • Participate in company meetings, webinars, and conference calls.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in response to changing business conditions or requirements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Must possess approximately 5 years of any combination of experience and/or education that demonstrates advanced knowledge of claims administration, insurance, risk management, safety, or a related field.
  • BA/BS Degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of general liability, automobile liability, third-party property damage, and subrogation principles.
  • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, planning, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple claim priorities, evaluate competing deadlines, and determine appropriate follow-up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive claim-related matters.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize claims management, incident reporting, and safety management systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Restaurant Support Center that operates in a fast-paced setting with a high volume of activity and a deadline-driven environment. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence in the office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Use verbal communication and active listening skills for extended periods.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time, using telephone, typing and/or operating a computer and/or mouse.

  • Travel as needed: approximately five (5)%.
