What is the opportunity?

Join the Medical Request Team (MRT) for a one-year contract role in a fast-paced, high-volume claims environment. The MRT is responsible for requesting and following up on medical documentation on behalf of the Claims Specialists, playing a key role in the claims process by allowing specialists to focus on adjudication. You'll also manage invoice payments related to medical documentation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to details, and the ability to consistently meet tight turnaround times while managing high task volumes.

What will you do?

  • Send medical requests and follow-up on medical requests within the given service level agreement on behalf of the Claims Specialists

  • Effectively balance both new requests and follow-ups to ensure the team's task queue is manageable and work is distributed fairly across all team members

  • Manage the Medical Intake mailbox and prioritize incoming requests efficiently

  • Process invoice payments accurately and in a timely manner

  • Update claims systems with accurate and applicable information, maintaining error-free records

  • Implement and effectively manage change initiatives within the team

  • Participate in projects and initiatives within Life & Health Claims

What will you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.

  • Fluency in English and French, oral and written

  • Proficiency in claims systems for lines of businesses being supported

  • Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify additional sources to uncover vital information not otherwise available

  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to multi-task and balance goals and priorities

  • Strong organizational and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Nice to Have:

  • 1-2 years of experience in claims, insurance or healthcare administration

  • High school diploma or Business Administration credential

  • Insurance designation or relevant certifications

  • Experience with high-volume processing environment
