Overview

Property Claim Representative - Individual Renters Claims

Summary

Under moderate supervision, the Property Claim Representative - Individual Renters Claims is responsible for handling lowseverity to moderateseverity individual renters (HO4) claims, primarily involving personal property (contents) losses. This role requires strong time management, written communication, and analytical skills to ensure timely investigation, documentation, coverage correspondence, and resolution of claims in accordance with policy provisions, company guidelines, and applicable regulations.

This position is hybrid out of one of the following offices; Mayfield Heights Ohio, Overland Park Kansas, Dallas Texas, and Alpharetta Georgia.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve HO4 individual renters claims, with a primary focus on personal property (contents) losses.
  • Review and interpret HO4 individual renters policy forms to determine applicable coverages, exclusions, deductibles, and limits.
  • Conduct deskbased investigations, including review of loss details, supporting documentation, photos, estimates, invoices, receipts, and statements.
  • Prepare and issue timely and accurate coverage letters, claim correspondence, and status updates in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Determine damages, set and manage appropriate claim reserves, and negotiate settlements within assigned authority.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely claim file documentation reflecting all investigative and claim handling activity.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with insureds, agents, vendors, and internal partners to ensure prompt claim progression and resolution.
  • Manage an assigned inventory of renters claims efficiently to meet productivity, quality, and cycletime expectations.
  • Identify potential issues, discrepancies, or coverage concerns and escalate appropriately.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable state insurance regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field, or equivalent claims handling experience.
  • Prior experience handling renters insurance or personal property (contents) claims preferred.
  • Working knowledge of individual renters' policy coverage, exclusions, and claim handling principles.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and estimating or valuation tools used for contents losses. Xactimate experience preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly for drafting coverage determinations and claim correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritize workload, and maintain consistent productivity.
  • Strong analytical, decisionmaking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Active adjuster license as required by state regulations, or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
  • This is a deskbased position; routine travel is not required.
