CLA Coordinator performs and supervises clinical laboratory assistant function including phlebotomy, specimen. accessioning and routing, reference laboratory test ordering and packaging, registration process, report distribution according to network and hospital policy and regulatory and accrediting standards. Under the direction of the Manager for administrative matters and the Laboratory Medical Director for medical matters plans, organizes, and coordinates the work of employees in that section. Maintains section quality, quality assurance, inventory, and personnel competency. Selects, trains and evaluates, and discharges employees. Maintains section in accordance with the goals and policies of the department and institution. Maintains budgetary control.

Job Requirements:
 

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Clinical Lab Assistant

 
• Preferred graduation from a phlebotomy training program or experience.
• Leadership experience preferred
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
• Ability to remember and consistently apply all the details necessary to collect and transport specimens properly and to use the laboratory computer
• Ability to write or print clearly
• Ability to accurately identity patients a recognize any differences in spelling of names or listing of hospital numbers.
• Ability to communicate well to and get along with patients and other hospital and laboratory personnel
• Ability to learn and use basic computer programs
• Ability to work under pressure
• Demonstrates responsibility to patients and to other members of the healthcare team
• Ability to effectively train.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to lead a team
