The Aerospace Corporation is looking for Senior Cybersecurity Engineers, who enjoy security work and possesses both deep and broad expertise in the cybersecurity space. The successful candidate will lead teams of cybersecurity professionals to solve the hard problems encountered in developing, acquiring, deploying, operating, and maintaining trusted systems.

The candidate will make things more secure by working with customers throughout the system development life cycle to develop policies, requirements, prototypes, demonstrations, architectures and solutions that protect systems, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data. Qualified candidates will have a background in security orsystems engineering.

This is a fulltime position based in chantilly, va which requires 100% onsite work.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information Provide the Government with systems security engineering and cybersecurity expertise.

  • Identify and recommend strategies for mitigation and/or removal of ground and space cybersecurity vulnerabilities

  • Provide cybersecurity expertise in support of critical decision points and provide ground truth assessments of security events/activities and posture.

  • Identify and define system security requirements

  • Design computersecurity architecture and develop detailed cybersecurity designs

  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols

  • Participate in risk management activities to ensure cybersecurity risks are evaluated and effective mitigations applied in accordance with security directives.

  • Review of cybersecurity test procedures for requirements satisfaction, including participation in Test Readiness Review activities and witnessing of test events.

  • Participate in Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) planning and implementation

  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices

  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks

  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement

What You Need to be Successful

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related STEM technical field

  • At least 10 years of system security orinformation security engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more the following:

  • Proven work experience as a system security engineer orinformation security engineer
  • Demonstrated capability in mission definition, functional decomposition, requirements allocation, system design, and system lifecycle experience.
  • Experience defining and analyzing threat/vulnerability likelihood, coupled with mission impact, to determine risk.
  • Experiencing executing projects, which includes managing requirements, schedule, and budget.
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc

  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools

  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols

  • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and deliver effective solutions in in high pressure environments Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
