Our talented staff of 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions to our clients from our offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Alabama.
Due to continued growth within MSG's Civil/Municipal Division, we are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Municipal Services team in Columbus, Ohio. This role is ideal for a civil engineer who enjoys working on community-focused infrastructure projects and collaborating across multiple technical disciplines.
You'll work alongside licensed engineers to support the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater systems, roadways, stormwater infrastructure, and recreational facilities for municipalities throughout the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed engineers with the design and preparation of municipal infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater, roadway, and community facility improvements
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical designs, and construction documents
  • Develop feasibility studies, due diligence reports, zoning studies, and front-end planning documents
  • Perform stormwater modeling and hydraulic/hydrologic analyses; prepare technical reports
  • Prepare cost estimates and detailed design plans for municipal and development projects
  • Coordinate with internal MSG teams including Survey, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, and Construction Services
  • Engage with local municipalities and reviewing agencies to address comments and guide projects through approval
  • Assist public agencies with review of development plans
  • Support project development from concept through final design and construction documentation
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • EIT (EI) certification in Ohio required; PE preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant municipal or site development experience
  • Practical experience in design and plan preparation for site development and municipal projects
  • Working knowledge of industry design standards, guidelines, and specifications
    • (City of Columbus, surrounding counties, ODOT, etc.)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation (grading experience required)
  • Experience preparing Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports strongly preferred
  • Roadway design and survey experience is a plus
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, reviewing agencies, and internal project teams
