Job Summary:
ECLARO is looking for a Systems Engineer - Enterprise Storage & Kubernetes for their client in Richardson, TX. This role requires expertise in enterprise-grade NetApp storage systems and containerized environments, focusing on the architectural design and management of private cloud storage infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Storage Architecture & Administration:
• Hardware Lifecycle Management: Configure, provision, optimize, and maintain NetApp All-Flash FAS (AFF) systems, including legacy and modern architectures: AFF A300, A800, A900, next-generation A30, A90, and high-end A9K storage arrays.
• OS Maintenance: Manage NetApp ONTAP configurations, upgrades, aggregate creation, SVM setups, and volume management tailored for multi-tenant private clouds.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize IOPS, throughput, and latency across diverse storage protocols (NFC, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe-over-Fabrics).
• Cloud-Native Storage Integration:
• Dynamic Orchestration: Serve as a subject matter expert for NetApp Trident, managing CSI (Container Storage Interface) driver installation, upgrades, and complex storage class definitions.
• OpenShift Integration: Architect and maintain persistent storage solutions for stateful applications running inside Red Hat OpenShift bare-metal or private cloud deployments.
• Data Management: Understand and implement automated snapshotting, backup rules, clones, and disaster recovery strategies using Trident and ONTAP workflows for containerized applications.
• Troubleshooting & Operations:
• Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve complex storage bottlenecks, connection drops, and configuration drift occurring between the OpenShift node layer and the NetApp fabric.
• Resiliency Testing: Conduct routine failover and high-availability testing to ensure uninterrupted data access for mission-critical applications.
• Collaboration: Partner with DevOps, Virtualization, System Administration, and Security teams to ensure storage deployments adhere to strict enterprise performance and compliance mandates.
Qualifications:
Required:
• NetApp Expertise: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience managing NetApp AFF arrays, with specific operational knowledge of A300, A800, A900, A30, A90, and A9K models.
• Kubernetes/OpenShift Mastery: Proven track record of managing enterprise workloads on Red Hat OpenShift (RHOCP) within private cloud boundaries.
• Trident Proficiency: Deep expertise in NetApp Astra Trident, including setting up backend configurations, provisioning Persistent Volumes (PVs), and writing custom Storage Classes.
• Networking Protocol Depth: Comprehensive understanding of storage networking protocols (FCP, iSCSI, NFSv3/v4) and general SDN concepts within OpenShift.
• Linux Infrastructure: Strong background in Linux systems administration (specifically RHEL/CoreOS), including kernel storage parameters, multipathing (DM-Multipath), and storage drivers.
Preferred:
• NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) or NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator (NCDA)
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• Automation proficiency using Ansible, Terraform, or Python for infrastructure-as-code (IaC) provisioning.
