Job description

Lead Storage Security Engineer / Enterprise Storage & Backup Administrator

Direct Hire

Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL - hybrid - 2-3 days a week (MWF, then T/Th)

Serve as the technical lead for enterprise storage, backup, and cyber recovery infrastructure supporting large-scale production environments. Collaborate with vendors, architects, and internal stakeholders to design, implement, modernize, and maintain secure, highly available storage and data protection solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, modernization, and lifecycle management of enterprise storage and backup environments in partnership with storage and backup vendors.
  • Develop and present technical refresh strategies, infrastructure upgrade roadmaps, and maintenance cost analyses to executive leadership and management teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, offering guidance on system administration, troubleshooting, best practices, and professional development.
  • Coordinate with procurement and finance teams by developing vendor quotations, cost estimates, and technical recommendations for infrastructure acquisitions.
  • Partner with Dell Technologies to design, test, and implement a Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery solution, strengthening organizational cyber resilience and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery, Index Engines CyberSense, and Unisys Stealth, providing architectural guidance, operational support, and strategic recommendations.
  • Perform daily administration and maintenance of enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments, including capacity expansions, firmware upgrades, and system health monitoring.
  • Provision and decommission storage resources by presenting and removing LUNs to support application and infrastructure projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage, SAN, NAS, and Fibre Channel connectivity issues while minimizing operational impact.
  • Execute enterprise storage migrations and technology refresh initiatives with minimal downtime.
  • Configure and maintain Brocade Fibre Channel zoning to support secure and reliable storage connectivity.
  • Administer enterprise backup solutions, including NetBackup and Dell EMC Avamar, by creating and maintaining backup policies and ensuring data protection compliance.
  • Monitor and manage service requests and incident queues using Remedy, ensuring timely resolution of storage and backup issues.
  • Configure, update, and maintain Dell EMC RecoverPoint replication environments to support business continuity and disaster recovery objectives.
