Job description

Corona, United States | Posted on 08/18/2026

Weโ€™re looking for a master of municipal navigation. As a Permit Technician at MODE Renovation, you are the primary liaison between our design team and building departments across Southern California. Your mission is to ensure every "wetspace" renovation is fully compliant, permitted, and ready for our installers to hit the ground running without delays. You turn complex bureaucracy into a seamless start for our clients' home transformations.

The Impact Youโ€™ll Make
  • Permit Management & Strategy: Manage the entire permit lifecycle, from initial application to final approval and issuance.
  • E-Permit Mastery: Navigate various Southern California electronic permit portals with speed and accuracy.
  • Timeline Optimization: Monitor permit status daily, proactively pushing for approvals to align with our high-volume production schedule.
  • Agency Liaison: Build professional relationships with city plan checkers and building officials to resolve comments or corrections quickly.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner with Project Managers and Sales teams to provide accurate updates on permit timelines.
  • Compliance & Administration: Review project scopes for local code alignment and keep internal systems (Buildertrend/CRM) updated with real-time data and costs.
Requirements What You Bring
  • Experience: 1+ years as a Permit Technician or in a similar role within the construction/remodeling industry.
  • Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of Southern California building codes and permit requirements for residential bathroom renovations.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with e-permit portals, Microsoft Office, and project management software (Buildertrend experience is a major plus).
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; you can navigate a city counter or a Zoom call with equal professionalism.
  • The "MODE" Mindset: A proactive, "own it" attitude with high integrity and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Schedule: Full-time (Mondayโ€“Friday), with weekends as required by business needs.
Why Join MODE Renovation?

At MODE Renovation, we donโ€™t just remodel bathrooms and kitchens; we transform homes and improve lives. Known as "The Last Honest Contractor," we stand out through transparency, direct communication, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Unlike many in the industry, MODE operates with in-house (W2) employees rather than sub-contractors, allowing us to maintain a superior standard of excellence.

When you join our family-owned team, you get:
  • Stability & Growth: Join a company that tripled its revenue in one year and offers a clear path for professional advancement.
  • Financial Security: Competitive salary (commensurate with experience), performance-based incentives, and a 401(k) plan with company support.
  • Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
  • Work-Life Balance: Paid vacation and PTO to keep you at your best.
