Permit Specialist job opportunity in the Overland Park, KS area.
Pay Range: $23-$30 per hour, with flexibility depending on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Permit Specialist to support telecommunications projects by preparing and submitting Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) permits. This role will work across city, county, state, utility, pole, and railroad jurisdictions and will help mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit, track, and obtain AHJ permits through approval and renewal
  • Research jurisdictional requirements and maintain permitting documentation
  • Compile complete permit packages, including approved plans and traffic control
  • Track permit status, timelines, and deliverables in the company database
  • Coordinate with project managers to support schedules and forecasts
  • Submit and track power, aerial, joint use, and make-ready applications as needed
  • Maintain permit records and market-specific tips and best practices
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-4 years of permitting experience
  • Telecommunications or utility permitting experience is a big plus
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
