Position Description:
The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. This multifaceted role requires expertise in formulating RFIs, understanding earnings impacts, and scheduling, all while adhering to safety standards and fostering community relations. As a Project Engineer at GCON, each day will be a little different and the learning opportunities will be continuous. The emphasis of this role is honing project management skills, and construction management knowledge to elevate the construction experience on highly specialized project teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and execute the closeout process, ensuring comprehensive data collection and assembly for client handover.
  • Proactively manage and mitigate risks associated with the document control process, ensuring compliance with contract document maintenance and distribution.
  • Engage actively in trade partner and GCON daily huddles, as well as owner meetings, taking responsibility for assigned tasks and resolutions.
  • Facilitate the proper setup and approval of budgets and oversee the audit flow. Examine proposals from assigned trade partners for scope accuracy.
  • Support the implementation of the Last Planner System (LPS), organize pull plan sessions, manage make-ready planning and constraint logs, upkeep the weekly work plan and Percent Plan Complete (PPC), and aid in tracking and addressing variances.
  • Contribute to the payment application process, including setup, draw management, and monitoring receivables aging.
  • Formulate Requests for Information (RFI) and assess submittals for precision. Propose solutions to RFIs prior to consulting the Design team. Administer the CMiC system.
  • Comprehend the factors affecting basic earnings. Apply contract markups and grasp their implications on the budget and change orders. Review trade partner work scopes to validate proposal legitimacy.
  • Grasp the fundamentals of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and the logic behind schedules. Create, update, and report on the Long Lead Matrix in coordination with the Contract Items List (CIL) and schedule milestones. Communicate any impacts to the Project Superintendent (PS) and Project Manager (PM).
  • Adhere to 30-Hour OSHA guidelines and best practices. Enforce project safety standards and assist with safety orientations, Stretch & Flex, Pre-Task Planning (PTP), and Safe Behavior Observations (SBO). Perform Safety inspections with the required quantity and quality.
  • Embrace the concepts of Injury Free Environments in practice.
  • Identify potential unsafe work effectively, notify the appropriate personnel, and ensure follow-through for remediation resolution.
  • Analyze safety scopes of work for contractors assigned to the project.
  • Present safety-related information confidently and respond to related questions adeptly.
  • Exemplify GCON values with trade partners and clients and engage with the industry.
  • Implement and practice GSTEPS as part of the project process.
  • Utilize volunteer time to support the community and enhance GCON community relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to technology platforms.
  • Construction internship or other related construction work experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with:
    • CMiC
    • PlanGrid
    • BIM 360
    • Assemble & MS Project or similar software platforms.
  • 1-2 years of experience as Project Engineer

Physical Requirements:
