Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role pays an hourly rate of $14.00-$15.00 and is tip eligible.

About the Venue

The Rio Rancho Events Center (RREC), located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose facility that opened its doors in October 2006. The RREC leads the field among venues in New Mexico and is home to the New Mexico Runners Major Arena Soccer League team. With 165,000 square feet of extended floor space, the Rio Rancho Events Center is ideal to host concerts, sporting events, family shows, conferences, banquets, and cultural programs. The arena features a single concourse and has 27 suites and 4 party suites, as well as a large club lounge for dinners and parties. The technical expertise and dedication of the RREC staff ensure that audiences will be dazzled and entertained with shows they will never forget. The Rio Rancho Events Center is owned by the City of Rio Rancho and managed by Oak View Group (OVG), the global leader in live experience venue development, management, premium hospitality services, and 360-degree solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks, including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol.
  • Responsible for learning or having knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available and being able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Check the guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
  • Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
  • Listening and responding to any customer requests or concerns.
  • Bartenders are expected to de-escalate intoxicated guest situations. If a guest becomes confrontational, belligerent, or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may contact management or security as required.
  • Contact a management member if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making.
  • Request additional products or restock products as needed.
  • Responsible for the issued bank at the bar.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation at all times. Ensures that bar equipment is clean and well maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned may include setting up and breaking down bar equipment as required and assisting with the organization of the cooler.
Qualifications
  • Six months or more experience bartending.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Bartending school preferred.
  • Accurate cash handling skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and long hours.
