Software Asset Manager
We're looking for an experienced Software Asset Manager to join a global technology organization and help manage the full lifecycle of enterprise software. This is not a software engineering role. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in software licensing, asset management, compliance, vendor management, and license optimization within a complex enterprise environment.
You'll help ensure software investments are optimized, licensing obligations are met, and technology teams have the data and governance needed to make informed decisions.
What You'll Do
  • Own and evolve the end-to-end software asset lifecycle, from procurement and entitlement management through deployment, renewal, and retirement
  • Manage software licensing and compliance across major enterprise publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, and SAP
  • Maintain and improve software asset management processes, data, controls, and governance
  • Monitor software usage and consumption to identify cost savings, shelfware reduction, license harvesting, and rightsizing opportunities
  • Support software audits, compliance reviews, renewals, and true-ups by analyzing license entitlements and usage
  • Partner with Procurement and Legal on software contracts, renewals, negotiations, and vendor management
  • Work with Technology, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure software is appropriately licensed and deployed
  • Translate complex software licensing agreements into practical controls, recommendations, and business insights
  • Develop reporting and dashboards that provide visibility into software assets, compliance, spend, and optimization opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to automate and continuously improve software asset management processes
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, Software Licensing, IT Asset Management, or a closely related discipline within a global or large enterprise environment
  • Strong understanding of enterprise software licensing models, including user-based, device-based, subscription, SaaS, and cloud licensing
  • Experience managing software from major enterprise publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, and/or SAP
  • Hands-on experience with a software asset management or IT asset management platform such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, Snow, or an equivalent system
  • Experience with software license compliance, audits, true-ups, entitlement management, and/or license optimization
  • Ability to analyze software usage and licensing data to identify financial savings and compliance risks
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Legal, Finance, Information Security, Architecture, and Technology
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice to Have
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management
  • ITAM/SAM certifications such as CSAM, CITAM, or ISO 19770
  • Experience leading or defending software vendor audits
  • Experience with software contract negotiations, renewals, or true-ups
  • Experience building executive-level reporting and dashboards
  • Experience developing enterprise software asset management policies, controls, and governance
  • Experience with automation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Previous experience supporting a large retail, consumer, or global enterprise technology organization
The Ideal Candidate
You're analytical, highly organized, and comfortable navigating complex enterprise environments. You understand that effective software asset management is about more than tracking licenses-you know how to turn licensing and usage data into cost savings, risk reduction, compliance, and better business decisions.
You're also comfortable working across multiple teams, managing ambiguity, and building relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role based in the Beaverton, Oregon area. Relocation may be considered for candidates who are willing to relocate independently.
