Job Description

The Network Operations Technician is primarily responsible for the surveillance and repair of IP / Ethernet / PON networks consisting of devices from a variety of vendors such Juniper, Ciena, Calix and others. Applicants must have at least 5 years of experience working with Juniper or Cisco routing equipment and be knowledgeable on common Ethernet and IP protocols to include BGP, MPLS, OSPF, and other similar protocols. The Technician must also demonstrate customer service experience and be an effective communicator able to interact with customers both verbally and in writing to troubleshoot and resolve service issues.

Responsibilities

  • Must have Juniper and/or Cisco router experience. (Juniper preferred)
  • Must have Layer 2 and Layer 3 experience
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair Ethernet / IP / PON equipment and associated protocols to include BGP, MPLS, OSPF, and others.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and internal organizations.
  • Document work efforts and troubleshooting status.
  • Work nights and/or weekends as scheduled
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience troubleshooting and repair of Ethernet & IP networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of office productivity software, both Google and Microsoft.
  • Experience with trouble ticketing
